12 Tribes of Cornerstone

According to the Bible, the land of ancient Israel was divided into 12 sections corresponding with 12 tribes, based on the 12 sons and grandsons of Jacob, also known as ‘Israel’. The purpose of C3 Tribes is to serve as a source of community and to provide congregational care by proactively staying in contact and care with the entire membership as we journey through life together.

The Tribes offer a means to fellowship with and serve new and old members of our church. At the inception of the ministry, all members will be a part of the Tribe categorized by their last name. Those members who are 17 years and under will be in the same tribe as their parents regardless of
last name.

ROLE OF THE TRIBES
Each Tribe will be assigned a Leader. The Leader(s) of the Tribes will be responsible for implementing a form of contact for its members, developing a team structure within the Tribe, delegating persons to serve on assigned Tribe Sundays, and ensuring support of Tribemembers during important moments in their lives.

Specific activities include:
1. Participating in the Invitation on assigned Sundays (following the initial organization to Tribes based upon last names, new members will be added to the Tribes when they join on the Sunday of the assigned Tribe). Representatives from the Tribe will need to greet new members and welcome them to the Tribe and share a little bit about their Tribe. Formal contact information will be gained from the church staff.

2. Plan a Tribe Gathering once a quarter for the entire Tribe. This can either be a meal at someone’s home or at a restaurant, a picnic or BBQ, or attendance at a special event. Things such as concerts, plays, etc. are nice, but the goal is for members to talk to one another and get to know one another.

3. Serve as support for members who experience the loss of a loved one, particularly an immediate family member. This may include the Tribe preparing a meal for the member’s family, or serving at the repast, or taking up a special love offering for the member. The goal is to ‘be the church’ and an extension of the pastoral ministry for that member and their family.

4. Serve in unison with the C3 Prayer Ministry in ensuring that sick and shut-in members are visited regularly, provided communion, and led to feel a part of the life of C3.

5. Encourage strong participation in the life, activities and ministries of the church. A strong Tribe will not become a ministry unto themselves, but encourage participation in and service to other ministries in the Church.

6. Serve as a strong support to the Senior Pastor and Family, as well as to the pastoral and office staff.
